Top Tips To Achieving Your 2018 Goals...Even If You Haven't Set Any Yet!

Top Tips To Achieving Your 2018 Goals…Even If You Haven’t Set Any Yet!

We are now a few weeks into the second half of the year...I'm going to keep this one brief....how did it go? Where are you in comparison to your goals and targets for 2018? Halfway there? Already smashed them? Or are you asking yourself 'what goals'

Ok... wherever you are at you can turn things around...you can finish the year pleased with what you have accomplished...depending on where you are on the 'scale' here's what you can do:

I don't have any:

  • Ok I'll keep it simple, get some, I'm not thinking crazy 'blue sky thinking' goals I'm thinking some basic targets that by the end of the year if you only achieved them you would be pleased with yourself.
  • Sit down with a friend, or someone that will keep you accountable and break the steps you need to take to reach those goals down into manageable chunks...ideally divisible by 6 so you can break them down into the next 6 months.

I don't even remember what they are:

  • Revisit them, if they are still relevant then figure out where you are at and what you need to do to get from where you are now to where you want to be.
  • If they aren't relevant, why aren't they, what has changed and what is your new priority?
  • star
Get someone who will keep you accountable to talk through the steps you will take and sense check that they will get you to where you want to be.

I have some but I am waaayyyy behind:

  • Ok, where are you, do you have enough time to still achieve them? Are they still relevant? What caused you to fall behind? How can you avoid this next time?
  • If you don't have enough time then adjust your timescales so you can make them work
  • star
Again figure out the steps you need to take in order to achieve your goals
  • star
Take time if at all possible with someone who can sense check and keep you accountable so you stay on track this time...

I'm about on track:

  • Well done, keep it up
  • Review what's gone well in the last 6 months and where any changes could be made to make things easier in the next 6 months, or even achieve your goals sooner.

I'm ahead / I've already smashed them:

  • Well done you!
  • So what are your targets for the rest of the year? How can you keep the momentum going?
  • star
Review what went well and why you are ahead of where you expected to be
  • star
Key thing here is don't get complacent, acknowledge a job well done by treating yourself...and then keep pushing forwards.
